Why spray foam

Closed-cell spray polyurethane foam delivers around 6.2 R per inch and creates a continuous air barrier in one application. On a Park Edge Vernon assembly the effective wall R-value after BETBG thermal bridging came in at R-19.94. The blower door came in at 0.20 L/s/m² — code minimum batt and poly is typically 1.0 to 2.0 on a wood-frame MURB.

When not to hire us

If the rest of the building stays batt and poly, spraying foam in one section will not deliver the airtightness benefit. If the substrate is wet, we will not spray. Telling someone not to hire you is the fastest way to earn their trust.

Frequently asked questions

Does spray foam off-gas?
The chemical reaction completes in seconds. Once cured, closed-cell spray foam is inert. CAN/ULC certified. The off-gassing rumour is older than the foam has been on the market.
Is spray foam worth it on a renovation?
Sometimes. If the rest of the house is batt and poly, insulating one room with spray foam will not give you the airtightness benefit because the air keeps moving everywhere else. We will tell you when it does not make sense.
How long does the job take?
Most residential jobs are one day. New construction is scheduled around the framing carpenter and the drywaller. MURBs are scheduled in floors and run a week or more depending on the building.
Do you test the substrate before spraying?
Yes. We test for moisture before every application. We have walked away from jobs where the substrate was wet because spray foam over moisture fails. The fix later costs more than the job is worth.
